Making it in the new music business is not about lucky breaks. It’s about hard work.
But you want to work smart. And to work smart you need the knowledge.
The music industry is changing every. Single. Day. As an independent musician, I’m living through it. As the author of How To Make It in the New Music Business, I investigated, researched and learned from the best about what it takes to run a successful music career in this day in age.
Yes, I’ve been managing a successful music career over the past 12 years, but my experience is just one way to make it. I’ve tried to share everything I’ve learned from my experiences and from the research I did for Ari’s Take and the book.
What I realized the most was that because things are changing so quickly, it’s best to learn from those on the ground, currently working in the New Music Business.
You need real-time information about what is happening. Right. Now.
And you should be learning from the best of the best to get the most accurate information.
I’ve conducted hundreds of interviews with experts in the music industry over the past 5 years, writing for Digital Music News, Ari’s Take and for my book, but they’ve all been private, over Skype or in person. I learned so much valuable information, but those interviews were never recorded and shared with the community at large.
I realized that these interviews, ARE the main course. Yes, I passed along a few tidbits here and there in the subsequent articles I wrote, but most interviews lasted over an hour and most of the information just simply never got shared.
And, of course an interview I conducted just a year ago is already out of date because of how quickly things change.
That’s why I started Expert Conversations on the New Music Business.
On February, 25th, 2018 I will sit down, one on one, with top level publicists who work with artists at every stage of their career to discuss How To Get Music Press and How To Land a Publicist
The previous two seminars we held, What Does An Artist Manager Do And How To Get One and How To Book and Execute a Successful Tour were incredible. We had 11 top-level experts representing artists at every stage of their careers from emerging indie acts to superstars.
